Our Choreographers

Julie Grabowski

Julie started dancing at the age of three. She trained at various studios and at the School of Cleveland Ballet where she was a scholarship student and eventually trained in their apprentice program. She has studied many forms of dance including Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theatre, Tap and Pointe. She graduated from Cleveland State University with a BFA
in Dance and Elementary Education. Julie also has an extensive background in Musical Theatre and performed in many productions such as “Annie,” “Grease,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Oliver,” and “Chorus Line.” She has also had opportunities through her training to perform in many pre-professional ballets such as “Sleeping Beauty,” “Romeo and Juliet” and “Giselle.” In addition, she performed with the former Cleveland Ballet in their productions of “The Nutcracker” and “Swan Lake.”

In addition to her dance credits, Julie was the recipient of the Superior Teaching Award at Cleveland State University which was awarded by the Dean of the college. She then went on to receive the Certificate of Excellence for Outstanding Teaching Award and the prestigious Professional Performance Experience Award. It was then that she realized how much she truly loved to teach and work with children. She combined her love of dance with her education background and started teaching dance lessons. Julie has created and designed many programs for children ages 2 through 18. She is constantly working with her instructors to be on the cutting edge of an ever-changing dance industry.

Julie continually thrives on taking classes from Master choreographers such as Mia Michaels, Brian Friedman, Wade Robson, Chris Judd, Laurie Ann Gibson, Tyce Diorio, Tessandra Chavez, Gina Starbucks, Melissa Sandvig, Stacey Tookey, Sonya Tayeh, Jen Parsley, and many more professional teachers at dance conventions throughout the year. She also participates in teacher conferences all over the country to constantly stay on top of the business and to keep bringing in amazing choreography and innovative ideas to her studio. One of her latest achievements was traveling to New York City to be a part of the Dance Awards and train with the most up to date choreographers and network with the best in dance. She also participated in the 2012 Pulse Summer Intensive in New York City. Julie holds many first place and over-all titles for the competition pieces she has created. She has also been recognized with the prestigious choreography award for some of her pieces, which means more to her than any platinum title.

Outside of the studio, Julie started the Willetts Middle School and St. Ambrose Dance Teams. She currently coaches and runs both teams. Julie is excited that these schools offer the opportunity for dancers to perform as a team at school events and is thrilled to be working with all of the dancers. She is also involved with the PTO and school fundraising. Julie volunteers and participates as much as she can both in the schools and for the community; a place where she is proud to live and be a part of.
